Once Upon A Time In Mumbai is a 2013 Indian crime drama film written and directed by Anurag Kashyap and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Anurag Kashyap and Ram Madhvani. It stars Ajay Devgan, Emraan Hashmi, Kangna Ranaut, Manoj Bajpayee, Raima Sen and Bhumika Chawla. The film is an unofficial sequel to the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks film Once Upon a Time in Mumbai. Set in the aftermath of the Mumbai terror attacks of November 2008, it tells the story of a retired Indian Police Service officer who returns to Mumbai to find his estranged daughter and to help uncover the bloody conspiracy that ensued as a result of the terror attacks. The film, as well as the 2008 film, received critical acclaim. This film and the 2008 film have the same writer, director, producer and lead actor.
The film was screened out of competition at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival. It was released on 27 November 2013 in India.
Plot
Vikram Ahuja (Ajay Devgn), a retired Indian police officer, returns to Mumbai after a 15-year absence, in the wake of the 2008 Mumbai attacks. His estranged daughter Tara (Raima Sen) is getting married, so he is taking her on a holiday and backpacking through Europe. Vikram has his old friend Inspector Shetty (Emraan Hashmi) to help him find Tara. At the airport, he meets Tara's fiancé, Aditya (Manoj Bajpayee), and helps him find his uncle and take his nephew home to India. But when they get home, Tara's uncle, Madan (Shashi Puri), informs Vikram that Tara has been kidnapped. Vikram, Shetty and a police officer head to the sea to find Tara's body. They are captured and held for ransom, but later Shetty is tortured to death.
Meanwhile, Bharti (Kangna Ranaut), a girl who worked in a bar during the Mumbai attacks, is living in Delhi. She hears about the kidnapping from a teacher, and vows to find her sister and help her rescue her. She is helped by Vikram, Aditya, and Vikram's friend Sanjay (Ravi Kishan).
